You will find a registration link at the bottom of this webpage, but before registering, we ask that you review the information below, including the club Expectations and Pace of Play Policy. Who We Are

The Broadlands Men’s Golf Club (BMGC) provides access to an annual slate of golf tournaments conducted in a friendly atmosphere at the Broadlands GC. We welcome golfers of all abilities who are at least 18 years of age. We are entering our 21st season of competitive and sociable golf. BMGC events adhere to the USGA Rules of Golf. Players are flighted by handicap, and pro-shop credit is awarded to the net winners and the next 2-5 golfers or teams in each flight. Most events also include an optional skins game that pays cash to skins winners.

Expectations

The expectations below are common sense and intended to ensure that everyone is treated with respect, events are conducted in a spirit of friendly competition, and the reputation of the BMGC is protected:

Play the game with sportsmanship.

  • Follow the USGA Rules of Golf and local rules and help your playing partners do the same. (See BMGC Rules Guide.)
  • If you make a rule infraction, take responsibility for it. We all make mistakes.
  • Never allow a rule disagreement to become an argument. If it can’t be resolved on the course, play two balls, keeping score for each, and determine the outcome after the round.
  • Golf is a gentleman’s game. We trust that everyone will call penalties on themselves when appropriate.
  • Ensure the posted scores are accurate. One player from each group is responsible for posting scores in Golf Genius, but each player is responsible for ensuring that his posted scores are correct. Keep your own score, periodically check it against what was entered in Golf Genius, and review the final score with the scorekeeper before leaving the general area of the last green.
  • Follow accepted golf course etiquette, and practice “ready golf”.

Take pride in the appearance and playability of the golf course.

  • Use golf carts with care and obey all golf cart rules and signage.
  • Fix your ball marks.
  • Replace divots or fill them with seed mix.
  • Rake bunkers.

Engage all golfers and golf course staff in a respectful manner and be good neighbors to adjoining residents.

  • Conduct yourself in a manner that upholds the good standing of the BMGC.
  • This is a gentlemen’s game, and we ask that you behave like one. Our events are not a place for insults, anger outbursts, or throwing clubs. Everyone is here to have fun.
  • Do not engage in profanity that can be overheard by residents, other playing groups, or staff or that may be unappreciated by members of your group.
  • Provide golf course staff the right-of-way.
  • Play your shot only when there is no risk to other golfers or staff. Never hit into the group in front of you!

Take responsibility for your group’s pace of play to ensure you finish within 4 hours and 30 minutes.

When the golf course is full, as it is during BMGC events, it is essential to everyone’s enjoyment that we play the game in an efficient manner. The BMGC standard requires each group to complete 9 holes in 2 hours and 15 minutes and 18 holes in 4 hours and 30 minutes. The standard is achievable regardless of handicap, but it requires a determined approach and each player’s awareness of the group’s pace and position. Players and groups who do not adhere to this standard may be subject to penalties, and members may be asked to leave the BMGC if they are responsible for repeated infractions and are resistant to solving the problem.

  • Each golfer and group is subject to the BMGC Pace of Play Policy.
  • Golfers are expected to follow commonly used practices to enhance the efficiency of their play. A guide to many of these practices is available at: BMGC Pace of Play Tips.

Registration

By registering for the BMGC 2023 season, I acknowledge and affirm the above expectations and will make every effort to complete my round of golf in no more than 4 hours and 30 minutes.
